Academically Gifted--3rd Grade Explorers/Enrichment Model
3rd Grade Discovery
Throughout the academic year, I work to provide a variety of experiences in language arts and mathematics during our Discovery Extension, designed to elicit high academic performance. The students will come to Discovery in 3rd grade four times this year.
What units of learning to the students experience in Discovery?
1st Rotation – A Plethora of Poetry (link coming soon)
2nd Rotation – Awsome Analogies
3rd Rotation – Multiplying an Army of Ants
4th Rotation – The Mystery of the Unknown Variable
What is the Explorers-Enrichment Program?
Students who demonstrate potential in the Discovery activities receive advanced and enriched, small-group learning opportunities in language arts and/or mathematics under my guidance.
Why is Explorers Important?
At the 3rd grade level, a district-wide effort is made to search out and identify students who qualify for AG services.
My child was in the Explorers small group. Does that mean he/she is Academically Gifted?
Please not that participation in a small group experience does NOT mean that the student has been or will be identified for future AG services. For more information on Wake County’s identification process follow this link: http://www.wcpss.net/curriculum-instruction/ag/agidentification.html
